Democracy is expendable - reflecting on Myanmar Military Coup Feb 2021

 

I was in shock to hear the news of the Myanmar NLD leaders being taken into custody by the military, and still in a state of disbelief as the country was locked out of the world. The Myanmar people protested by striking their kitchenware. The military took over the country declaring a year-long state of emergency. Military leader Min Aung Hlaing said coup was inevitable. It was more horrifying to hear that China recognised this as a leadership reshuffle. I think the world is walking on eggshells now.
