The spat and rising tension between Australia and China - a Political Squabble
On 30 Nov 2020, a spokesman from the Chinese government tweeted a doctored image of an Australian soldier holding a knife to the throat of an Afghan child. I tried to find the tweet but to no avail. But I did manage to find a photo of the tweet posted by someone else on Twitter.
Australia demands an apology from Beijing over a Tweet by Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian containing a false image of an Australian soldier holding a knife to the throat of an Afghan child. #RTHK can't see the tweet for some reason 🤔 pic.twitter.com/MTAPzbyevu

The image, released by a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, has sparked controversy between Australia and China. The picture shows an Australian soldier holding a knife to the neck of an Afghan child. The following reads, "Fear not, we have come to bring you peace." pic.twitter.com/NiCgLWBIGu

The image was obviously fake looking at the way it was done. In most news media, the image was pixelated for censorship. Why did China post such a picture to further deteriorate their relationship with Australia? When will this spat end?
